An overview of the effective ways to check the spread of breast cancer, permanently

Every year, thousands of women around the world get diagnosed with breast cancer. Though it would be premature to term it as a killer disease, breast cancer is responsible for causing over 20 percent of cancer-related deaths. Despite the breakthroughs in modern medicine, scientists have only been successful in establishing the genetic link for cancer-prone individuals. The actual reasons behind the infection and advancement of cancer have still escaped modern medical experts.

Who needs treatment of breast cancer?

Though the mention of breast cancer induces cancer-related hysteria or depression in most women, developing an informed insight and awareness is essential for adult women (and men). To be able to treat cancer, it is essential that one must learn more about the infection in the first place. With self examination or mammography for breast cancer, a comprehensive knowledge of breast cancer prevention is advised for every adult.

People who indulge in regular physical exercises can effectively build up a natural resistance to cancer. Strict weight and dietary regulation, nutritional dietary supplements and giving up on alcohol/ smoking can also aid in breast cancer prevention. Stress, anxiety and exposure to environmental pollutants should also be reduced to facilitate effective breast cancer prevention. Brazilian nuts contain a mineral called Selenium, which when internalized combines with natural sources of Vitamin E to prevent cancer risks.

Obviously, these are thought to aid the prevention of cancer. Till now, no sure preventive method has been discovered that would successfully keep cancer at bay.

Effective treatment of breast cancer

Modern medicine has successfully developed certain treatments, which might constitute single administration or might be combined with other courses. Also, breast cancer treatment is greatly dependent on the stage of advancement, location and tumor size of a particular cancer infection.

The available treatments of breast cancer usually constitutes of the following techniques. The most prominent and conventional way is the surgical removal or the cancerous lesion. The type of surgery prescribed depends on the severity and the advancement of the cancer cells. In initial/ nascent cancer stages, surgical removal of the breast lump (lumpectomy) is enough to prevent breast cancer. In more advanced or threatening cases, though, the complete removal of one or both the breasts is necessary (mastectomy). Another viable surgical method is the lymph node dissection.

In more advanced stages of cancer infection, chemotherapy is required. This process is a difficult, vitality-sapping process, but shows most promise in containing the spread of breast cancer.

Often, surgical procedures are combined with breast cancer radiotherapy to effect comprehensive destruction of cancer cells and prevent relapses. Hormone therapy, alternative and holistic medicine is also used to aid breast cancer treatment. Treatment of breast cancer is a dynamic field of research and new studies have been throwing up positive courses of effective cancer treatment.
